Mah Mug

Inspired by the new headshot wall at new ImprovBoston, I spent some time on Saturday recapturing my face in color.  Here’s the result (one of three keepers out of a batch of 400.  Thanks, digital).

I haven’t been in front of the lens for a while. Taking the photos is easier.

A dem fine headshot, a dem fine headshot.  It’s got that mischievous expression that all of the best headshots have.  Are in-color headshots becoming in style now?

Color headshots are standard for film industry, and the theater world is slowly converting.  Also en-vogue are plain white backgrounds (see rest of my portfolio), and emphasis on the face.  It used to be that theater headshots were encouraged to include 3/4 of the body, to “give the director an idea of your build,” but unless the 3/4 posing is done artfully, they tend to look artificial.

Ultimately, it’s just about capturing the best “you.” And lighting.  Definitely lighting.

PS, I like it!
