I perform and direct improv comedy, write comedy and fiction, and occasionally flex my atrophying dramatic muscles. I'm always interested in new projects, new opportunities, and new collaborations. Drop me a line if you're interested in learning more about anything listed here (or better, come see a current show).
The Wasteland Comedy Hour will debut in November 2007, and run on Fridays through December 07, at ImprovBoston. This showcase show is under development, and as details are made public they will be published on wastelandcomedy.com.
I joined the MainStage cast of ImprovBoston after a few months with IB's Thursday-night show. We perform two shows every Saturday night, 8:00 and 10:00, at ImprovBoston. The show has been modestly described as: "Blending skillful storytelling, memorable music, audience participation, and joyful chaos, an elite cast of Boston's best improvisers creates a show that redefines itself with every performance. No rules. No boundaries. Just spectacular comedy and incredible improvisation."
The Uncommonwealth is a sketch comedy troupe filled with Boston-area comedians. It's also an official channel of MyDreamNation.com. We produce filmed sketches for distribution on the vast internets.
My friend Matt Tucker and I created our own postcolonialhistoriocomedic fully-improvised play. It's based on the infamous Burr-Hamilton duel, set in America, 1804. It's performed in costumes, wigs, and authentic dialect, and it's hilarious. You don't even have to be a history nerd to enjoy this show. We've taken it to the 2006 Providence Improv Fest, Del Close Marathon, and Toronto International Improv Fest, and we do shows in Boston and NYC. We'll also be performing at the 10th annual Chicago Improv Festival in April 2007. Check out the Code Duello site for more information, media, and bookings.
In January the artistic director of ImprovBoston brought together a bunch of improvisers with previous longform experience to form IB's first dedicated Harold team. The troupe, directed by Jeremiah Jordan, will begin performing in late April.
I wrote, directed, and produced a radio play... well, audio play, for free publication on the internet. It's a science fiction comedy. Installments were published every ten days on chagoonconspiracy.com from April–June 2007. You can listen to the entirety of the play on the site. If you like what you hear, please, send it to a friend.
I'm proud to direct Tiny Little Lungs, a two-woman musical improv show starring ImprovBoston performers Jaime Connors and Sarah McClean. They're immensely talented musicians, gifted actresses, and quite funny. Check out their upcoming shows on TLL's MySpace page.
I joined the cast of UnNatural Selection at ImprovBoston shortly after the collapse of The Tribe. In UNS, anonymous improvisers did short- and long-form improv in an faux-competitive battle to claim their identities. UnNatural Selection happened every Thursday night at ImprovBoston.
I filmed a commercial for Novell Software along with some other Boston improvisers. It was not flattering.
This was my regular improv gig from fall '05 to summer '06. I performed every Friday on The Tribe Theater's mainstage, which was located in downtown Boston, in the theater district, before it shut down in July '06. The Tribe Players performed short-form and long-form improv, did some fun outgigs, and generally rocked up the stage.
I sometimes teach improv classes with The Tribe. They're worth every penny. If you're even remotely interested in taking a class, jump over to the classes page at tribeboston.com.
Speak1337 was a two-man sketch comedy show that exploited geek subculture to get laughs from mainstream America. My friend Evan McGee and I developed this multimedia sketch comedy show, which utilized video, music, dance, and terrible rap. Speak1337 debuted in April 2005 at Improv Asylum in Boston, and played for audiences at Improv Asylum, Tribe Theater, and various outgigs.
I'm proud to have been a part of the first permanent cast of the ImprovBoston Family Show. The cast was wonderful, the format was fun, and the crowds were big. I left this show to pursue other projects, and because I hate children.
I performed with WKoF for about four months before we were tapped to become the first permanent cast of the IB Family Show (see above). Members of the Family Show still perform under the name WKoF around Boston, and they are so sweet.
DayJob performed long-form improvisational narratives under the auspices of The Tribe, then in the basement of the Cantab Lounge in Cambridge, MA. We told some funny stories.
I performed at the Red Triangle Comedy tour with my sketch group at the time, The Mumbling Prophets. Shortly after, I might have been overheard saying "What a great learning experience!"
All of Shakespeare's plays and sonnets boiled down into an hour and fifteen minutes of comedy. I love this show.
I played the lead role in a "revival" of Edgar Allan Poe's lost, incomplete, and totally obscure play, Politian. Poe died before he could make the end of this play coherent, but the first two-thirds are a rollercoaster of dark delight.
I juggled several roles in this play about the bubonic plague, written by Anthony Clarvoe. I don't think any of my characters got out of London alive.
Like so many other young white males, I started my improv career in my college's short-form improv team. Colby Improv continues to dominate the central-Maine improv scene.
I've been photographing performing artists in the Boston area since 2003, and doing publicity shots for Boston theaters since 2004. My photos have appeared in papers and 'zines such as the Boston Globe, Boston Herald, Boston Metro, and Panorama Magazine. The thing that separates me from other photographers is that I use a camera to take pictures. Please hop over to my photo portfolio if you're interested in seeing my work.
